Dinosaur Birthday

Stomp, Chomp, Roar! This party is a fun filled, colourful prehistoric adventure!
A dino-mite party with absolutely a-roar-able decorations, treats, favors and more!

Niko-Saurus has spent the better part of the year in a make believe dinosaur world, so naturally, why not bring it to life with a birthday party!

These party hats are too cute with the back side showing spikes!

No better a favor for this party than a dino adoption…or two!

For the older party guests, I found these great and challenging 3D puzzle designs at the dollar store.  In what could be a bit boring of party for those 10+, this favor gives them something to do while the littles run around making T Rex sound effects!

Evon of Cookievonster never disappoints, these dino-mite cookies where hand cut to follow my paper designs.  Amazing talent!

Roar this way to Niko’s 5th Birthday!

Carnivores, Herbivores and Sweetivores : All Welcome

I made these adorable mini party hats with the coordinating party papers.  These guests were happy to join in on the fun!

How to Make a Party Hat

IMG_7047

Every birthday child needs the don the special celebratory attire of the ‘birthday hat!’

Every party package that I create includes various party hat designs that are ready for just this job!  So to make the process of assembling one of these easier, today I am sharing a step by step guide.  And if that is not help enough, I am also providing a free printable party hat of this particularly cute striped navy and white design!

To make this party hat, you will need the following…

  1. Party Hat Printable
  2. Pair of Sharp Scissors
  3. Scotch Tape/Hot Glue
  4. Ribbon
  5. Embellishments (optional)

Start of with printing you party hat on heavy white card stock (I would recommend 65lb card stock).  Using the guidelines, cut out the hat with scissors.

IMG_4667

IMG_4668

Once you have the party hat cut out, roll the paper into a cone shape with the dotted line side under the finished edge.

IMG_4669

Once you’ve rolled the hat into the cone shape, tape/hot glue in place.  I used scotch tape which can look a bit of a mess, so the other option is to use a the hot glue gun for a cleaner look.  Whatever you choose, this is the back side of the hat and so…what you don’t see is no big deal :)

IMG_4672

Next, choose a coordinating ribbon and trim two pieces to the lengths you need to tie a nice bow once on the birthday child.  Tape or Staple the ribbon to the inside of the hat and keep in mind where is the front.

I decided to make this hat from my son’s first birthday cake smash so I added a shimmer jigsaw chipboard number “1” which is made by MakingMemories (available in most scrapbooking /craft stores).  It is really up to you with how you want to embellish the hat; a pom pom on top, some fringe on the bottom.  So many ways to personalize and make it your own!

Just for a daily dose of cuteness, my littlest one in his cake smash mess!

Nautical Baptism

IMG_2406

Welcome aboard Baby Nikola!  Faith, Hope and Love was the inspiration for my youngest crew member’s Nautical themed Baptism.

Party Highlights:

  • Blue mason jars tied with sailor’s rope + a hanging lifesaver
  • Sailboat cupcakes with blue and white swirl frosting
  • Anchor cookies and cake pops
  • Coordinating paper pinwheels and rosettes
  • Beautiful flower arrangements

IMG_2400

The nautical theme is very popular so I opted to design my party package with a color scheme just off from the obvious; navy and aqua.  Pops of red were incorporated to keep the table and decor fun and fresh.

IMG_2448

The gorgeous cake pops were made Carmen’s Sweet Creations and really helped the cute factor on the sweets table.  Anchor sugar cookies are by Lexi of Pink Frosting.

IMG_2420IMG_2416

Each table had a beautiful mason jar centerpiece filled with big beautiful white peonies, hydrengas, double lisianthus, vendella roses, lime carnations and button poms.  Flower arranging is another hobby I would love to dabble in when I have more time!  Adding some paper pinwheels and rosettes made with the coordinating patterned papers really helped unify the theme throughout the room.

IMG_2365 - Copy

Using twine and a white peppermint lifesaver, these mason jars went from cute to adorable!

IMG_2389IMG_2381IMG_2396IMG_2441IMG_2397IMG_2410IMG_2412

Sailboat cupcakes were an easy way to change up the cupcake toppers and a perfect example of smooth sailing ;)

IMG_2413IMG_2417

Many of the pieces of this baptism set are incorporated into Nikola’s bedroom decor still!  The name banner and this ‘God Bless’ sign made their home on his nursery bookshelf.

IMG_2436IMG_2432

The paper rosettes had various pictures of Nikola at the center which was a special way to share sweet moments of home life with friends and family.  Small paper punched confetti was placed at each table as well!

IMG_2434IMG_2419

Sweet blessing to you my baby boy!  You are anchored with love, faith and hope in this family and with God.
