Superhero Party

superhero blog post-p001

Superheroes are a big thing in our house and so it is only fitting that I would create a party for one of my boys with that theme!  This party was so fun to plan but even more fun to enjoy, the kids just loved it!  This party was featured on Amy Atlas, here!

When imagining the cake, I new I wanted something bold and graphic, so instead of fondant I was decided to make ombre sugar dots to mimic the vintage dotted comic design from the party package.  I got my inspiration for these sugar dots here .  The diy tutorial on how to make these was so easy to follow and I think the time to make them was well worth it :)  The graphic cutouts that are available in the party package really made this cake pop!

The invitation is made to look like a vintage comic design, it was a great way to let the guests know what was to come.

The amazing shortbread cookies were created by the talented Evon of Cookievonster and they really added a lot of impact to the party table.

The cupcake fondant toppers were so amazing as well.  They were create by Janderyn of earthandsugar.

The cake pops were created by Carmen of Carmen’s Sweet Creations.  She had a great idea to give them a shimmer in order to resemble spandex and I think it looks absolutely perfect!

The polka dot backdrop is fabric I purchased from IKEA, I also used it in the photo booth area, but in red!

Little Ninja Party

My youngest son Karlo, has been into anything and everything ninja for the past few years, so last year I created a sweet little party to honor his wishes.  I am anxiously waiting to share pictures of the this years superhero party, but waiting for a feature on Amy Atlas Events before I show you all the fabulous details!  So here is Karlo’s 3rd birthday ninja party!

023

One of the main design elements was the ‘rising sun’ and it was used for the cupcake toppers and the birthday banner.

026

I had so much fun making the rice krispy sushi!  It was beyond easy, so yummy and even more…it was so pretty!

035

I used the individually wrapped krispy treats and then cut them out with a sharp knife and circular cookie cutter.  If the cookie cutter or knife got too sticky, I just smeared some butter what I was cutting with and all is well.  Fruit roll ups are used for the seaweed and the red “roe” are sprinkles, but they look very realistic!

057

I found that the red Swedish fish looked and worked best for the sashimi!

016 045

I bought the cake from Safeway :)  then I used the cake bunting and graphic cutout to make it look custom, so simple and cute!

072

Straw flags were used to decorate the fruit and veggies, making them more enticing for those little fingers!

I hope a little ninja master will enjoy this party theme as much as my little Karlo did!

My older son is now into TMNT, for those who don’t know the acronym, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and his birthday is fast approaching.  Party planning is in full swing for that theme!

Golf Par.Tee Birthday

golf blog post-p001

It was with so much joy and pleasure, that my sister asked me to work with her on my nephew, Mate’s first birthday.  We wanted something preppy and simple and so we decided on the golf par.tee theme.  I hope you enjoy viewing the photos as much as I enjoyed putting it together!

1

The set up of this table is very simple and as you can tell, symmetrical…I am a sucker for symmetry!  When I was researching golf parties on Pinterest, I came across a cake that inspired the one I made.  I liked the idea of the grass top and the hole in one concept.  I used a shot glass to serve as an outline for the hole and frosted all around it and then lifted it off to leave the exposed chocolate cake.  I had never tried this grass frosting technique before, but I have to say it was quite easy and I love how it was carried through onto the cupcakes!

3

I found a local cookie decorator who sells on Etsy, Lexi of Pink Frosting, created some of the cutest golf themed cookies ever.  I asked for some golf scenes, plaid patterns and mini golf balls and wow, did she deliver! To show them off, I placed them in the tall grass which is great to add to the theme and decor.

2 4

All the little guests were asked to visit the ‘pro shop’ to pick up their birthday favor giveaways!  Each child got a set of clubs, a visor and some water.

11 12 13 15 16

As always the favor tags and thank you cards are included in the party package.  Using a coordinating ribbon, I attached the tag to the golf set to make it resemble a price tag for the ‘pro shop’ gift ware.

14

I always think it is best to purchase a table linen that helps coordinate your theme..I often look through the clearance section of the local fabric stores, but for this party I purchased the table clothe at IKEA in their  fabrics department.  Very affordable and I think it really tied the whole table together.

7 5

As I was stringing the name banner to the front of the table, I was trying to think of something to use to hide my safety pins.  It was a totally unplanned detail, but I just love how the golf tees looked tied together to create a finishing touch for the banner.

9 8

There are so many clever play on words that can be used in this theme, I used ‘cup’cakes, irons and woods and ‘club’ sandwiches to name a few.  I used the golf tee again to display the sandwiches.  To further decorate the sandwiches, you could us some of the patterned paper that is included in the party package and wrap the sandwiches first and then pierce with the golf tee.

19 17

The birthday boy, Mate, pronounced m.ah.teh, was one of the happiest little golfers ever!  He is also one of the very few birthday boys that didn’t mind wearing his party hat for an extended period of time.

20

I hope you enjoyed viewing this party feature and possibly learned something new for you to create your own unique party table for your special kidlet!

It’s a Pirate’s Life for Luka

pirate blog post-p002

I am so excited to share my son, Luka’s, fifth pirate themed birthday party.  It was so much fun creating the party package, planning the party, styling the day of and of course…

arghh matey! c e l e b r a t i n g !

My boys have really been into pirates this year and so this party took on a life of its own when they got dressed in costume, waving their swords and swinging their hooks!

257 238 223281

The kids had a table of pirate costume accessories to don and they wore it in such a way that any true pirate would be proud to join their crew!

110 101

When I was designing the party package, I knew I wanted to create a cupcake topper that would look like a mini pirate ship and when assembled and placed together, would look like a fleet.  I was so happy how the “shipcakes” turned out…I used a bamboo skewer because it looks more authentic, then I used a 1/8 hole punch at the top and bottom of the pirate flag sail.  The top flag was the created with one of the straw flag designs included in the party package, taped and trimmed.  So easy and so cute…I mean tough!

085 148

Marshmallow pops are a must at all of my parties, not only for the kids, but my mom loves them too! She must have had at least three, but who’s counting…love you mom!  I drew on the faces with an edible marker I purchased from Micheal’s and dipped the tops into red chocolate wafers that I had melted in the microwave.  They took maybe ten minutes to make, I would really recommend making them for the pirate theme because they are so easy and effective!

067 2 097

I made the cake, yes it was simple, but it is like a large version of my cupcake shipcake.  Same idea in assembling the sail and I finished it with a cute pirate sugar cookie.  There are many designs of cupcake toppers in the package because really what is a party package without cupcake toppers!

072

I have to send some Etsy love on over to Ira of Batches, The Cookie Jar for the adorable and tasty sugar cookies!

137 306 All my party packages come with favor tags and thank you notes. It is a nice way to tie the whole theme together from start to finish.  Our pint sized guests each received the pirate costume goodies and fistfuls of gold! arghhh..chocolate gold coins that is!

003

the blue streamer backdrop  had to be twisted around the railing because as many of you well know, moms can’t control the weather and the wind was a blowing! Just have to go with the flow with these sorts of things.
